Why are low-carb diets so appealing to some of us? I know for myself, it's because of the sin of gluttony. It's desirous to think that I can eat as much of something as I want as long as I don't go over a certain amount of carbs. I'm not saying that eating low-carb is wrong or bad, I believe it can be beneficial to cut back on processed carbs but I also believe there's a place in our diets for whole grains.
So what exactly is gluttony?
Gluttony, derived from the Latin gluttire meaning to gulp down or swallow, means over-indulgence and over-consumption of food, drink or wealth items to the point of extravagance or waste.

What does God's word have to say about the subject? Here are just a few Scriptures on the subject:
Proverbs 23:20
Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat
Proverbs 23:2
And put a knife to thy throat,if thou be a man given to appetite.
Proverbs 23:21
For the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, and slumber will clothe them with rags.
I found a wonderful article on the accepted sin of gluttony that really spoke to my heart this morning that you can read here.
We do not have to be slaves to sins
Galations 5:24
And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with it's passions and desires.
