Why are low-carb diets so appealing to some of us? I know for myself, it's because of the sin of gluttony. It's desirous to think that I can eat as much of something as I want as long as I don't go over a certain amount of carbs. I'm not saying that eating low-carb is wrong or bad, I believe it can be beneficial to cut back on processed carbs but I also believe there's a place in our diets for whole grains.
So what exactly is gluttony? Gluttony, derived from the Latin gluttire meaning to gulp down or swallow, means over-indulgence and over-consumption of food, drink or wealth items to the point of extravagance or waste.
What does God's word have to say about the subject? Here are just a few Scriptures on the subject:
Proverbs 23:20 Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat
Proverbs 23:2 And put a knife to thy throat,if thou be a man given to appetite. Proverbs 23:21 For the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, and slumber will clothe them with rags.
I found a wonderful article on the accepted sin of gluttony that really spoke to my heart this morning that you can read here.
We do not have to be slaves to sins Galations 5:24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with it's passions and desires.
I already LOVE my cauliflower pizza crust. I regularly use cauliflower in place of bread and potatoes without any objection from my family, but HERE, they've taken cauliflower to a whole other level and I can't wait to try these many wonderful recipes :-)
Ok so after reading this chapter ,I know one thing is for sure I don't want to be a crazy lady.
Speaking of fear... have you ever heard the saying ,"he/she doesn't fear anything.) Usually when that is used it is when someone is doing some thing irresponsible. Fear as you learned can be a good thing.
Listed were 3 verses that spoke on fear being a good thing: Psalms111:10 Proverbs 9:10 Proverbs 1:7
Learning to be my husbands helpmeet was the best thing I did for myself and my marriage. You do not know what you will like or dislike until you try it. Titus 2:3 was listed as a reference verse and I see why. I wasn't taught by my mother to be sober and love my husband, So there were many times I recall saying aloud and to myself... "he never had a problem with this when we were dating...." "I'd be better off alone.." or the infamous ," I'm a grown woman, no one can tell me what to do.." Yes thoughts like this are common and should be rebuked these thoughts will cause nothing but harm and a miserable marriage. It wasn't until I grabbed this book that I realized I had so much power within my own actions and words to change even the most "un changeable" man.
So lets get to that "Crazy lady." Thankfully I have never been the one to lose it out in public.( I said public, I'm not perfect ;-) ) Though I do recall many a time where I have seen a miserable woman going off on their spouses looking so proud of themselves for proving their point for the world to see. I also remember recalling my thought that I had when I saw it . They were usually thoughts of ..that poor man.. Or she's making a fool of herself..
So you see why I didn't want to be in that category.
We as women tend to shut or husbands out because we don't feel like they are in the word enough, we think "how could he tell me what to do when he doesn't even know the will of God. Well you know that rebellious spirit is a sign of distrust in the Lord. God wants us to be a helpmeet to our husbands period. It doesn't have stipulations such as: only if he's saved...or if he's sweet to you ..if he faithful. NO what is your duty is YOUR duty no one else's so no excuses DO IT. 1 Sam 15:23 is a great verse about King Saul's offerings to God but his disregard to the will of God! How that is a rebellion equal to witch craft!
Ok Ladies our Time to consider: Remembering that peace is a fruit of the spirit . Galatians 5:22-23 Let us not practice bitterness or those woeful things that drag us down and make us miserable. Someone once told me something that changed my world, " when you hold onto anger toward someone the only person that's being affected is you, because that anger is building within you. The other person has no effects and can continue on with their merry life." Proverbs 30:21-23for three things the earth is disquieted, and four which it cannot bear: For a servant when he reigneth ; and a fool when he is filled with meat; For an odious woman when she is married; and a handmaid that is heir to her mistress.
Definition of odious :
extremely unpleasant; repulsive.
So did you look up fear in the KJV bible? Can you say you truly fear the Lord.
I took the liberty in searching a few verses for you:
Proverbs 1:7
Ecclesiastes 12:13
Luke 1:50
So lets continue to love and obey the Lord. Don't let yourself become a crazy lady.
James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. This chapter focuses on seeking wisdom, concerning marriage, from the Lord. Does wisdom pour forth out of the words you speak? Would one think you wise by your actions? What if you feel your husband doesn't deserve it? OR You're thinking that you can start seeking God for wisdom once your husband starts living like he's saved? Think back to the story of queen Esther... beyond ridiculous was her marriage. Of all people, she could have complained the most about her husband, but didn't. What she did do is seek wisdom from the Lord. You can read the book of Esther here.
Psalm 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!
Proverbs 1:2 To know wisdom and instruction,
to understand words of insight.
Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge;
fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Proverbs 2:6 For the LORD gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
Proverbs 8:11 for wisdom is better than jewels,
and all that you may desire cannot compare with her.
Proverbs 31:26 She opens her mouth with wisdom,
and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
Greek word for wisdom: chokmah- wisely, skillful man, wits
Questions to ponder:
What is the key to understanding our roles as wives?

Created To Be His Helpmeet :4
A chapter related to being joyful! It is your choice .
I know there was a point in my marriage where I wanted my husband to hurt just as much as he hurt me. I then realized that would never happen because we are made different , all that bitterness would cause him to do was to stay a way from me and in-turn end up hurting me further.
As wives and ladies we need to recognize that we have a lot more power then we know. We can make people around us happy by being joyful or make people stay clear of us by being bitter. Remember the things that you are thankful for and you will notice joy will follow.
“Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
I love the story of how they played together as a couple and I believe THIS was a major factor that help in my marriage. Even the smallest change like leaving love notes around or kicking his pillow off the bed while wearing a menacing grin. Just be a play mate and a joyful one.
Traits of a good helpmeet that's listed at the end of this chapter are
-She is joyful
-She makes love fun
-She is thankful and content
"But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD." Jonah 2:9
Joy is mentioned over 30 times in the bible! - Make a written list of ways that you can start showing your thankfulness; then start living your list and show a thankful life-
